Day 13 ยท Your First 30 Days
Fighting Temptation with Truth
๐ AWAKEN
Yesterday was about what happens after you fail. Today's about the moment right before โ what actually helps in the middle of temptation, not just after the fact.
๐ BEHOLD
Passage: 1 Corinthians 10:13
- What does this verse say about how "common" your temptations are?
- What two things does it promise: a limit, and something else?
Paul is writing to a church he knows well, addressing real, specific temptations they were facing โ not abstract theory.
๐ก INTERNALIZE
1. "No temptation... that is not common to man." Whatever you're wrestling with, it's not a uniquely shameful, never-before-seen struggle. That doesn't make it small โ but it does mean you're not as alone in it as it feels.
2. Two promises, not one: a limit, and a way out. God won't let the temptation exceed what you can bear (a limit), and he'll provide a way of escape (an active exit, not just passive endurance). The "way out" is often something concrete and boring: leaving the room, calling a friend, closing the tab, saying no out loud. It rarely feels dramatic in the moment.
Practically: decide the "way out" before the moment, not during it. If you already know what tempts you most, name one specific escape action right now, while you're thinking clearly โ not later, when you won't be.

๐ฑ DO

Today's one small act: Name one specific "way of escape" for your most common temptation โ something concrete you'll actually do next time, decided now instead of in the moment.
๐ ENTRUST
Add 1 Corinthians 10:13 to your memorization deck โ this is a strong one to have ready before you need it.
Pray: "God, thank you that I'm not alone in this struggle. Help me actually take the way out you provide, instead of talking myself past it."
Tomorrow: You'll close out Week 2 by looking at the difference between reading Scripture and actually doing something with it.
