Day 26 · Your First 30 Days
Serving Before You Feel Ready
Awaken
"I'll serve once I know more" is a tempting thought 25 days into a new faith — but today's passage suggests you're already equipped for something, right now, not eventually.
Behold
Passage: 1 Peter 4:10
- What does Peter say every believer has received?
- What's the stated purpose of that gift — for yourself, or for others?
Peter is writing to scattered, often struggling churches, encouraging ordinary believers toward practical, everyday faithfulness — not an elite class of specially gifted leaders.
Internalize
1. "Each has received a gift" — not some, all. Peter doesn't say gifted people should serve while everyone else watches. He assumes every believer, including someone 26 days into this journey, already has something to contribute.
2. Gifts are for serving others, not for private benefit. "Use it to serve one another" — whatever your gift turns out to be (and you may not know yet, and that's fine), the purpose named here is outward, toward other people, not a personal credential.
You don't need a title or a formal role to start. Practical, unglamorous help — setting up chairs, showing up early to welcome newcomers, checking in on someone — counts as real service, and it's usually exactly where new believers actually start.

Today's one small act: Ask your church (or a leader there) one specific way you could help this month — something concrete, not vague.
Entrust
Gospel Appeal: Notice if "I'll serve once I know more" has felt like humility, when it might actually be a delay tactic — waiting to feel qualified before you'll offer anything. No amount of additional preparation was ever the actual qualification here; the verse says "each has received a gift," present tense, not "each will eventually earn one." Jesus is your great High Priest right now, already equipping you with something specific to give, not waiting for you to become someone more impressive first. If you've been waiting to feel ready, today can be the day you ask what you could actually do this week, unready and all. And if you're already serving, notice whether you're doing it from your own strength or from what he's actually given you to offer.
Add 1 Peter 4:10 to your memorization deck.
Pray: "God, show me one specific way I can serve this week — I don't need to feel ready, I just need to start. In the precious name of Jesus, amen."
Tomorrow: Serving with your time has a financial counterpart — you'll look at giving as worship, not obligation.
